been a simmer since almost birth (my dad had me playing with him on his lap starting when i was about 2/3 years old. I don't remember much at all of my time doing so but i do remember being fascinated with the builds my dad was creating. The goth family especially were interesting to me and i vaguely remember him playing as that family when I was so young. initially got into playing the sims on my own when TS2 was released. I also loved playing the console versions; "Bustin Out", "Urbz" and also liked playing sims 2 castaway on my DS.
my favorites of the PC series (in order) would be: the sims 3, the sims 2, the sims, bustin out, urbz. I'm not a big fan of the handheld versions of the game, I did play the MySims aswell but it's a entirely different type of style of gameplay. The sims 4 I don't even bother playing anymore because it doesn't have what all of us simmers really want/need. Open-world gameplay is a huge game changer - no mean to bash anyone that enjoys playing (i too used to like playing too but going back to playing TS3 has made it so hard to want to go back to playing TS4.
